Savor the Flavor - The 2025 Oistins Fish Festival

2 April 2025 · 1 min read

The Oistins Fish Festival held during Easter, April 18th - 21st, celebrates the island’s fishing heritage and the important role it plays in Barbados’ culture and economy. The first festival was in 1977 and has since become a major cultural event on the island that attracts thousands of locals and visitors. The festival gives visitors to the island an opportunity to experience true bajan culture, arts and music, crafts and of course great food!

While the Fish Festival is the major highlight of the year, Oistins remains lively year round. During the day, the fish market sells catch straight off the boat. Friday’s is the famous Friday Night Fish Fry where fresh seafood is grilled, drinks flow and music plays!

Alleyne Real Estate has two great accommodation options in and around the Oistins area:

Sandy Hook is an oceanfront 2 and 3 bed condo located on Maxwell Beach. A 10 minute walk (3 minute drive) to Oistins fish market makes this a great option if you are planning to visit during the festival.

Sapphire Beach located a little further west (9 minute drive) from Oistins on Dover beach also offers 2 and 3 bedroom accommodation options. Located within easy walking distance of the restaurants, nightlife and amenities of St. Lawrence Gap. A great option for families as guests have access to two lagoon style pools.

Both options are also great for golfers as the Barbados Golf Club is roughly a 10 minute drive.

Holidays in Barbados are very seasonal, and Easter typically sees an increase in arrivals, depending largely on the holiday's timing. Therefore, it is important to note that availability can be limited. We always recommend reaching out to our reservations department as soon as possible if you are considering a visit. Looking forward to a long weekend?

Happy Easter! Josh
